English Proficiency Requirements
   
 

ADMISSIONS’ CRITERIA  -  English Language

Minimum IELTS score of Band 5 or TOEFL 500/173

Those students who do not meet these English language admissions standards may enter the English for Academic Purposes Program (EAPP) after taking a placement test.  This program has six levels and the student will be placed according to the test grade

English Language Placement Test

Students are admitted to credited programs only if they have achieved a minimum TOEFL score of 500 while certain courses require a score of 550 for entry.

If the student does not have a TOEFL score, he or she will take the CUD assessment test for placement in English for Academic Purposes program.
English as a Second Language students have particular requirements; therefore, specific programs will exist within the English for Academic Purposes Program to ensure the students have the support they need.

Tutors and other professionals will be accessible through our offices for students who require additional support to ensure their academic success.
EAP students with specific needs with regard to their English proficiency are advised to contact the English for Academic Purposes Program Chair for assistance

Mathematics Placement Test

All students admitted to any one of the accredited programs are required to pass a Mathematics Placement Test. Students who fail to  achieve the required pass mark in this test will be required to complete the relevant non-credit course before proceeding with their chosen program.
