You borrow a book from the Library and we check it out to you.  We may also say that you have checked out a book from the Library.  In the Library we say that our books are circulating when they are borrowed or checked out.  In order to borrow a book you must have a valid CUD ID card.  This is your Library card.

Books from the general collection can be checked out to you after you have a CUD ID card.  You can keep a book for 2 weeks, the due date will be written in the back of the book.  If you do not return the book(s) on time you will be fined.  You may renew a book (keep it for one additional week) if no one else is requesting it.  You must renew the book before the original due date.

Fines

If you return a book late there is a 2 dirham fine per day for each book that you have borrowed. 

If you have 2 books checked out and they were due on the 10th which was a Monday and you don’t return them to the Library until the 13th (Thursday) you will be fined 6 dirhams per book or 12 dirhams.

You can call us at the Library, 04-709-6260, to renew your books.  If you renew them after they are due you will still be charged the fine for the days between the due date and the date you renewed them.

Bring your books back on time so you don’t have to pay the fine!
