Thursday, November 16 - 18, 2017 - Lamborghini Dubai Building: Students Tasnim Ashour Ahmed Mohammed Mandour and Elvira Aggoune, Accounting and Finance Majors in CUD took part in the annual Start-up event organized by Dr. Joanna Seraphim.
The students’ attendance was made possible by one of our Alumni, Aya Douba who was part of the team who organized the week-end.
Startup Weekends a world-wide series are 54-hour events designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs. The students were incorporated into one of the teams involved initial pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation
The culmination of the event was a series of demonstrations and presentations.
Participants were assigned the task of creating working startups collaborating with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. The teams were treated to a series of talks by industry leaders and received valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs.
The weekend was centered on action, innovation, and education. Whether participants are looking for feedback on an idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help them execute, Startup Weekends are the perfect environment in which to test business ideas and take the first steps towards launching a startup.
Speaking after the event, Tasnim said the weekend was very interesting and she learned much from many people in the field of business, especially in terms of entrepreneurship and what is required to start and develop my business and
"They taught me how take care of these matters in professional way. This intense workshop was really worth it because as a Finance major I wasn't thinking of opening a new business. After this workshop I think I have changed my mind ."
Tasnim's team was involved in the creation of an app to help school students who have special needs.
A further Start-up is planned for the week-end of January 4 to 6.
