Communication and Media Studies Students in the Young Arab Media Leaders Program

November 14 - 28, 2017: Two students from the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (Arabic Stream) were chosen from among 100 students throughout the Arab world to take part in the Young Arab Media Leaders Program.

Under the patronage of His Highness Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates and Her Excellency Shamma Bint Suhail Bin Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Youth Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, it was announced that participants in this year’s program will include two students from Canadian University Dubai.

Dr. Wided Dafri, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies submitted the names of ten students from which Mokhtaria Boucif (Advertisment) and Sham Nasser Ibrahim (Public Relations) were chosen.

Both students went through the registration stage on the program's website, responding to a range of questions in the field of media. This online exam for acceptance to the preliminary qualifiers was followed by a second round and final assessment.

The program was designed to develop youth and empower a new generation of media professionals through theoretical and practical activities lasting for two weeks from 14 to 28 November 2017.

The program provided a unique opportunity for participants from different schools of media throughout the Arab world to develop and experience within the sector through lectures and workshops alongside organized field visits to the most prominent media institutions and companies in the region.

Commenting on their success, Dr. Wided said that she had nominated the best students in terms of behavior and achievement and who demonstrated an inclination to work in the media field in the future.

She also added with pride, that this program was strategically important for the formation of young leaders who are set to positively promote Arab media whilst communicating the Arab vision to the Western world.
