April 17th, 2018: As part of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry initiative, “Give and Gain” week, over 100 CUD students benefitted from the advice of industry experts on how to succeed in the job search process.
Organized by Ms. Orsi Urban, Head of Career Services, senior representatives from Du and Carillion of the Al Futtaim Group visited the campus and shared their experiences.
They visited five Business and Communications classes and gave advice on how to prepare for the world of employment.
Students were given tips on how to apply for jobs, how to prepare for interviews and how to conduct themselves in an interview situation. They learned about the specific areas on which interview panels concentrate and how to prepare for the questions they tend to ask. Areas such as career and employer expectations and self-marketing were covered in depth.
After the presentations, the experts were available to give one-on-one mock interviews, which the students found very helpful.
Speaking at the end of the event, Ms. Orsi thanked the guests for their participation and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce for facilitating the event. She was pleased with the contributions made by the students and expressed the hope that the event gave them a realistic view of the career world.
