Students show off their skills at CUD’s got Talent

April 24th, 2019: The audience in the Red Theatre was treated to an array of talent from our students ranging through music, song, dance and even juggling!

Ten contestants were shortlisted for the finals, being required to submit a one minute video to Mr. Rivaan Mager, Music Coordinator in CUD.

The judging panel consisted of Dr. Efthymios Papatzikis, Dr. Ode Amaize, Mr. Dusan Popovic and student Maryam, Farhmand Nia.

After each act, the judges spoke to the contestants to find the source of and motivation for their individual contributions.

The Faizah Dance Group emerged as eventual winners with Sarah and Jakob, guitar and voice in second place. Closely following them in third place were the Soggy Biscuits, voice, guitar, piano, drums and bass.

Cash prizes were awarded to all three acts.

Speaking on behalf of the judges, Dr. Efthymios Papatzikis, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication congratulated all the entrants on the standard of their performance and said, “This type of event promotes creativity, collegiality and passion for the arts. There is a huge interested audience among our students in CUD as well as the wider academic community, so we will continue doing our best to provide similar opportunities, enjoying further the great achievements we experienced today."
