Policy
Prospective students are invited to contact the Admission Department to inquire about CUD programs, admissions conditions, tuition fees, and available student services.
Admission Applications of prospective students are processed only for those that satisfy the following minimum University admission requirements:
- Holders of UAE High School Certificate or its equivalent with average score 60% or more.
- Applications of holders of a non UAE High School Certificate, obtained in the UAE or abroad, are processed in accordance with decrees No. 200/2004 and 312 /2004 of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education & Research, UAE as follows: In general, holders of the National High School Certificate of a foreign country are eligible for admission if:
- The certificate is considered for admissions in public universities of the Country where it was delivered,
- The certificate was obtained after at least 11 years of schooling,
- The certificate includes at least 6 subjects covering the four areas: Mathematics, Sciences, Languages, and Social Sciences & Humanities or Arts.
- Holders of High School Certificates from countries having two-levels High School Certificates must submit the certificate of the higher level.
Admission of holders of Non UAE Secondary School Certificate
Applications of holders of a non UAE secondary school certificate are processed in accordance with Circulars (No. 200 & 312) of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education & Research as follows:
- Holders of Foreign Secondary School Certificates other than British system certificates are eligible for admission if:
- The certificate is considered for admissions in public universities of the Country where it was delivered.
- The certificate was obtained after at least 11 years of schooling.
- The certificate includes at least 6 subjects covering the four areas: Mathematics, Sciences, Languages, and Social Sciences & Humanities or Arts.
Students coming from countries which have two-levels of High School Certificate must submit the certificate of the higher level.
Examples of foreign certificates and requirements:
- Iranian Certificates:The Pre-University Certificate is required with a minimum required grade of 12 out 20.
- Indian Board (s) Certificates: Senior Secondary School Certificate ( Part II) is required with a minimum percentage of 35% and above.
- Pakistani Board (s) Certificates: Higher Secondary School Certificate ( Part II) is required with a minimum percentage of 35% and above.
- French Baccalaureate:Obtaining the Baccalaureate with a minimum grade of 10 out 20.
- Lebanese Baccalaureate: Obtaining the Baccalaureate with a minimum grade of 10 out 20.
- International Baccalaureate: Completion of six subjects with three at the higher level is required with a minimum of 24 points.
- American High School Diploma: High School Diploma (grade 10, 11 & 12) is required with a minimum of 60% or 70% (depending on the program of choice) or with a minimum CGGPA of 2.00.
- Nigerian Certificates: A secondary school certificate granted by either the WAEC or NECO board with a minimum grade of E and above or average of 40% and above.
- Holders of British system certificates (IGCSE and GCSE) are eligible for admission if:
- He/she has passed, as a regular student, 7 subjects at the ordinary level of IGCSE or GCSE with a minimum score of C. The minimum score is D and E for subjects taken at AS level or A level of GCSE respectively
- The 7 subjects should cover the four areas of: Mathematics, Science, Languages, and Social Sciences & Humanities or Arts.
- The applicant must prove that he has attended school of at least 11 years by providing school leaving certificate.
Program Admission Requirements
Certain Majors at CUD require specific type of secondary school certificate.
- Students holding literary certificates: Can be admitted only to the following:
- Any major offered by the School of Business.
- Any major offered by the School of Environment & Health.
- Bachelor of Computer and Networking Engineering Technology.
- Bachelor of Science in Interior Design (with an overall average of 70% & 70% in the Mathematics subject).
- Student holding science certificates:
Can be admitted to any program. Additional requirements are for the following:
- Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (with an overall average of 70 %
- Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication Engineering (with an overall average of 70%)
Probationary Admission for Undergraduate Students
An applicant who does not meet the minimum requirements for a specific program may be admitted to the University on probation. Students admitted in this category are considered to be on probationary admission under the following conditions:
Students admitted on a probationary basis will be required to register for no more than four courses that will be selected by the student’s respective faculty members. They must pass the four courses and achieve a minimum grade-point average of 2.00 in order to remain in the program and have their probationary status removed.
Students not meeting these probationary admission conditions will be subject to dismissal.
