FOM Guest Speaker webinar | Professor Mary Gentile

Canadian University Dubai is pleased to welcome Professor Mary C. Gentile, Creator and Director of Giving Voice to Value; Professor of Practice at University of Virginia Darden School of Business; Senior Advisor, Aspen Institute Business & Society Program; and independent consultant.  Previously Gentile was a faculty member and manager of case research at Harvard Business School. 

Giving Voice To Values is a pedagogy and curriculum for Values-driven Leadership launched by Aspen Institute and Yale SOM, housed at Babson College 2009-2016 and now based at University of Virginia Darden School of Business. GVV is a pioneering approach that has been featured in Financial Times, Harvard Business Review, Stanford Social Innovation Review, McKinsey Quarterly, BizEd, etc. and piloted in over 1,000 educational settings and organizations globally. The book – Giving Voice To Values: How To Speak Your Mind When You Know What's Right – is from Yale University Press (www.MaryGentile.com). There is a GVV book series at Routledge/Greenleaf Publishing. The edited volume, Educating for Values-Driven Leadership: Giving Voice To Values Across the Curriculum (Business Expert Press, 2013), includes chapters by a dozen faculty from different functional areas who describe how they use GVV. 

GVV won Bronze Medal in 2017 REIMAGINE EDUCATION for "Ethical Leadership." Gentile was short-listed for 2017 Thinkers50 "Ideas Into Practice" Award.; named a ComplianceWeek "Top Mind 2017;" received "Lifetime Achievement Award" from Trust Across America. The book won Axiom Business Book 2011 Gold Medal in Business Ethics.

Gentile holds a bachelor's degree from The College of William and Mary and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the SUNY-Buffalo.
