For some students, the supervised environment of the Residences can prove to be too restrictive. Those students who prefer a truly independent lifestyle should consider private living arrangements, especially if one:
- Has a car or can make other transportation arrangements;
- Prefers not to share an apartment with other students;
- Can manage the landlord-tenant relationship, budgeting, cooking, and cleaning.
CUD has contacts with several real estate companies which provide private furnished/unfurnished accommodation available on a short-term basis suitable for students. All private rental arrangements are handled between the student and the rental agent. CUD is not responsible for any aspect of private accommodation.
Students who wish to live in private accommodation should travel to Dubai prior to the start of the semester to make the necessary arrangements. Please note that there may be occasions when private accommodation is not readily available.

The classified sections of the newspapers in Dubai provide comprehensive listing of all types of accommodation from shared flats to furnished apartments to private villas. Dubizzle1 is a good online resource for finding accommodation. Rental prices are quoted in annual terms. Utilities are not always included in the rent and may add an additional AED 1,000-1,200 per month to the cost of accommodation.
Shared accommodation is a solution to the high cost of renting private accommodation. Rental for shared accommodation may range from AED 4,500-6,500 per month, depending upon the location and number of people sharing the accommodation.
