A short-term international educational exchange can be a life-changing experience. We have formal agreements with various institutions worldwide that allow Canadian University Dubai students to possibly undertake a period of study overseas.
As an exchange student, you can study at a partner university for one or two terms, with the possibility of your credits being transferred back to your program at CUD (Based on both Ministry of Education and Institutional Approval). Admission is on a merit basis and quite competitive. You must be in good academic standing and have completed 30 credits before being admitted. The program is open to students in all academic programs who meet the requirements.
To apply, please submit your transcript, two letters of recommendation from faculty members, and a short statement indicating why you wish to participate in this program.
You will meet with an academic advisor to select courses to ensure that credits earned are accepted as transfer credits towards your Canadian University Dubai degree. Proof of health insurance and a release of Liability form are mandatory.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Which cities in Canada can I transfer to?
Over the years, CUD has established credit recognition agreements with several renowned higher education institutions across Canada. Students must meet the admission requirements of their selected university, and the chosen program should align with the one offered at CUD.
2. What are the transfer requirements?
Each university has its policy regarding admission requirements for each program – students should meet these requirements criteria such as the CGPA, language requirement, and course pre-requisites per individual school guidelines. However, the assessment of each applicant is determined on a case-by-case basis.
3. How much are the tuition fees?
Studying abroad can be expensive, but Canada offers some of the most affordable tuition rates for international students compared to countries like the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S.* Tuition fees typically range from 15,000 to 40,000+ CAD per academic year.
*According to a 2023 IDP survey, Canada remains the most attractive study destination worldwide.
4. What are the costs for accommodation and living expenses?
Accommodation and living expenses vary depending on your choice of housing. Many universities offer on-campus residences, typically with shared facilities such as kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms, and some residences may include optional meal plans. Accommodation fees can be found on the respective university’s website.
If you prefer to live off-campus, prices may be lower, but you must account for additional costs like furnishings, utilities (hydro, electricity), and other miscellaneous expenses.
Average rent for a room can be at least $350CAD and for a larger apartment around $2000CAD based on the city and location.*

5. Are there any scholarships available?
Various programs and funding is available to non-Canadians who want to study in Canada. For more information on specific scholarships, consult the chosen university’s page for international students or the Government of Canada scholarship website.
Most Canadian universities also provide financial assistance options for international students pursuing graduate-level studies. Students are advised to speak with the international student office advisors at the selected universities for more information.
6. What are the minimum GPA and English proficiency test scores required to transfer from CUD to partner or non-partner universities?
Admission is competitive, with past successful applicants having an average GPA ranging from 3.0 to 3.90, depending on the program and university.
For English proficiency, we recommend students take the IELTS exam as it is internationally standardized.
7. Does CUD assist with finding residence or apartment rentals for relocation?
While CUD does not directly arrange accommodation or apartment rentals for relocation, we can guide you in the right direction. Once you are accepted by a university, they will provide you with information regarding on-campus housing and other accommodation options. If you need assistance navigating your options, the CUD Transfer to Canada (TTC) office can help point you toward relevant resources and contacts at your chosen university.
8. Do you assist with visa processing for studying in Canada?
Students are responsible for completing their Canadian student visa applications, either in person or online, in accordance with Canadian laws and regulations. For detailed information on the application process, please visit: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/student.asp
9. Can Canadian students transfer back credits taken at a foreign university if they choose to return and complete their degree at CUD?
Credit transfers are subject to approval by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and CUD's transfer credit review process. The courses must align with CUD's course outlines and syllabi. For further details, please contact your academic advisor.
10. Will students lose any credits or years when transferring to a partner university?
In some cases, not all transfer credits may fit into the chosen degree program, depending on the specific requirements. This is handled on a case-by-case basis, and students are encouraged to make an appointment with the Transfer to Canada Office for personalized guidance. While CUD can offer recommendations and support, students should be aware that the partner university may not approve all credits and might require them to retake certain courses, including lower-year or prerequisite subjects.
