MBA Alumni renew old friendships at Shai Salon

April 20th, 2019: Members of the Canadian University Dubai MBA Alumni Association gathered in Hall C to renew old acquaintances and network with their peers.

The event was the first in a series of initiatives to foster stronger relationships between the Association and the Faculty of Management.

Welcoming the Alumni, Dr. Marc Poulin, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management, stressed the importance of an Alumni Association, specifically for Masters graduates, furthering their networking opportunities and supporting our programs.

He said that a strong Alumni Association can benefit CUD especially by promoting the program, student placement and sponsorships. The experience of the Alumni members is vital in helping us grow, and in identifying future opportunities and programs which would respond effectively to the needs of the market.

Dr. Marc’s presentation also included several pieces of exciting news. The DBA program should be introduced in the next academic year and this will afford Alumni members and others with a further opportunity to enhance their careers. He also referred to two new MBA majors; Project Management and Strategy which should also to be introduced shortly.

He stressed the need to formalize our relationship with the Association and encouraged members to participate in an Alumni Association Committee. Several of those present showed their willingness to take part.

He then introduced Mr. Hashem Salem, a Graduate in Finance from our MBA program, who has agreed to spearhead the work of the Association. Mr. Hesham addressed the audience and said, it was a very nice opportunity to see all my friends, colleagues and professors. It is very important to maintain close communication with our university and we should give back some of what we learned from this great institution.”

Hashem is already involved in our Corporate Training programs and has also contributed to the recently successful International Logistics Project which we are currently undertaking in collaboration with universities in France and Germany.

The event included a draw, using the business cards of the Alumni who were attending. Prizes included staycations, discounts for various restaurants and retail outlets and a Mont Blanc pen set.

Once the draw was over, lunch was provided giving a further opportunity  for networking and catching up on old times.
