CUD Graduate Honored at International Business Awards

October 13th, 2016: Canadian University Dubai (CUD) graduate, Ahmed Al-Hakim, has been honored with the 2016 Young Leader accolade at the Burj CEO Awards held this Summer in Washington DC, USA.

Ahmed, who is Senior Vice President of Business Development and Sales at ADS Securities Group Abu Dhabi, was recognized for his dedication and resilience in what has been a challenging journey to the top of his profession.

When circumstances forced him to leave his homeland and move to Australia in 1996, Ahmed fought hard to make a living, working in fast food restaurants and supermarkets before eventually being selected for a Trainee position in the Office of the Prime Minister of Australia.

However, in 2009 Ahmed decided to leave Australia following a life-threatening attack, which was brought about by tensions between Australians and Indians in the country. It was then that Ahmed decided to join CUD to continue his studies.

While pursuing his degree, Ahmed also worked at Standard Chartered Bank, and subsequently contributed to CUD as a strategic recruitment consultant. Following graduation he joined Etihad Airways as Director of Development, where he worked hard to develop himself in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Now a leading executive in the trading and investment firm, Ahmed’s achievements were among those celebrated at the inaugural Burj CEO Awards, which recognized organizations and individuals whose continuous and outstanding achievements serve as an inspiration for like-minded groups around the world.
