November 23rd, 2016: A delegation from Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has joined discussions around the theme Read, Research, Innovate at the 13th users meeting, of the Emirates Advanced National Research and Education Network (Ankabut), hosted recently in Abu Dhabi.
Held under the patronage of His Excellency Hussain Al Hammadi, the UAE’s Minister of Education, the conference brought together leaders in education, research and technology to participate in specialized lectures and technical sessions focused on issues related to educational technology.
The CUD delegation of Dr. Anas Najdawi, Mr. Florian Techel, Mr. Ali Hamici and Mr. Brian Banford joined around 500 attendees, primarily from the UAE higher education community, along with more than 100 organizations and government entities.
The meeting also explored various education technology aspects of Ankabut’s activities, including new services, high performance computing (HPC), open track, global connectivity, learning management systems (LMS), assessment, EFADA (Ankabut Library Management System) and security and disaster recovery (DR).
Ankabut is an advanced network that connects research and academic institutions in the UAE with a high speed network, while offering them connectivity to other education networks around the world. Ankabut also co-operates in national, GCC, regional and international arenas representing the UAE in conferences, exhibitions and forums.
