Biography
Dr. Abir Hamze is an environmental engineer working at the intersection of waste management and public health. Her work spans municipal solid waste systems, wastewater treatment, and resource recovery, with deep expertise in intensifying anaerobic digestion to boost biogas and create value-added products. She also investigates emerging contaminants, particularly PFAS, in sewage sludge and biosolids. Dr. Hamze is a faculty member in the School of Health Sciences and Psychology at the Canadian University of Dubai (CUD). Beyond campus, she serves as Vice Chair of the Water Environment Association of Ontario (WEAO) Residuals and Biosolids Committee and leads community outreach to build public awareness about water, waste, and health.
