Biography

With over 25 years of combined experience across higher education, corporate and public broadcasting (NBC-WDAM and PBS-WNET), and digital marketing (GCCI), Dr. Niaz Ahmed bridges scholarship, creative innovation, and industry practice. 

He is a Senior Fulbright Scholar with an extensive body of published and creative work, including a novel (Resurgence 2030), an interdisciplinary work of social and political philosophy (The Age of Extremes: The Crisis of Humanity), a scholarly book (Cross-Cultural Content Analysis), and a forthcoming book (AI Revolution: Transforming Digital Media and Integrated Marketing Communication). His screenplays Averting the Last Crunch and Resurgence 2030 have received international acclaim, earning awards and nominations at festivals across France, the UK, Switzerland, Sweden, and the U.S. 

He completed advanced executive training through the Management Development Program at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and the General Management Program at the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication with a minor in Marketing from the University of Southern Mississippi and an M.S. in Communication and Broadcasting from City University of New York. His work contributes to advancing innovation in communication, digital media, and integrated marketing communication, while fostering the growth of the next generation of scholars and creative professionals.

Before joining Canadian University Dubai, he was a tenured Professor of Mass Communications at St. Cloud State University in the United States, where he taught honors, undergraduate, and graduate courses across Mass Communication, Media Studies, Strategic Communication, Cinematic Arts, and Communication Studies. His academic background also includes faculty roles at the State University of New York and West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

Beyond academia, he brings extensive professional experience in broadcasting and digital marketing. He served as a Digital Marketing Consultant with Global Commerce & Communication, Inc. (GCCI), providing strategic guidance in the digital marketing sector. In broadcasting, he worked with WNET TV (PBS) in New York City as a Broadcast Information and Research Associate, analyzing audience research data and producing major reports. Earlier in his career, he was a Program Producer and Editor at WDAM TV (NBC affiliate) in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he wrote, produced, and edited a variety of television programming. His career reflects a dynamic integration of academic leadership, professional practice, and cross-industry expertise in communication, media, and digital strategy.
