CUD Library Month Hosts Dr. Jaclyn Fowler in Red Theatre

As part of the Learning Resource Centre annual Library month, Dr. Jaclyn Fowler spoke to students and faculty in the Red Theatre about her experiences and journey through writing and being published.

Opening the Event, Mr. Frederick Guerrero, assistant librarian welcomed participants stating that books were like food in that they feed the mind and as he introduced Dr. Fowler, he expressed his hope that by reading, learning and sharing books and other LRC materials, a habit of reading and learning would inspire the whole CUD Community.

During her address, Dr. Fowler shared her experiences and impressions of inspiration particularly as how it related to her writing process. She revealed that she attributed her love of writing to the influence of her father who was a great storyteller, sharing with the audience how he had encouraged her to express her feelings and attitudes.

She then spoke of her travels over the years, while writing about her experiences in various parts of the world and how they helped her to come to terms with her own nature and disposition. Motivated by her travels, Dr. Fowler published a book about renowned Irish Author W.B. Yeats entitled It Is Myself That I Remake’ from which she read a few extracts.

As she was concluding her speech, Dr. Fowler reflected on her source of motivation saying that she drew on her love of reading which she believes leads to a love of writing. That by being open to the many experiences she encountered on her travels, embracing those who have made a difference in her life and asking the question “what if” she would always find inspiration to write.

The event concluded with a question and answer session where attendees were able to glean more lessons on motivation.
