Dr. Sergio Finalist At UK-Based GESS Education Awards

February 28, 2018 H Hotel: Dr. Rommel Pilapil Sergio, Associate Professor and Chair of Human Resource Management Program, Faculty of Management has been nominated as a finalist under the category "Outstanding Contribution in Education Award" at the UK- based GESS Education Awards, the leading education exhibition in the region in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Education, Knowledge and Human Development Authority. The award ceremony is expected to be held on 28th February 2018 at H Hotel, Dubai.

The awards recognize the outstanding achievements by schools and education professionals, as well as leading local and global brands providing products and solutions geared for the education market in the Middle East .

With the education sector in the Middle East continuing to grow and inspire exceptional achievements in education, these awards have become an accolade of excellence to be bestowed on those contributing to the advancement of education within the region.

There are six award categories – the highest being the Outstanding Contribution in Education Award.

Nominations were received from 33 countries with only 10 shortlisted educators in the category in which Dr. Sergio was shortlisted. Speaking about the award, Dr. Sergio said “This is indeed a challenge to take. Knowing that this huge event features more than thousands of attendees due to the event’s conference and exhibition section, the education awards is something to look forward to.”

“The challenge to contribute in the field of education is not just related to teaching excellence. The areas of community engagement and research publication are but some of the most essential features of excellence in teaching in today’s global society.”

Dr. Sergio was also awarded the 2018 Best Professor in HRM by the HRD World Congress, following his 2016 Top 50 Educators Award.
