February 22, 2018 The Louvre, Abu Dhabi: A group of 50 students from the University together with several faculty members visited the recently opened Museum. The event was organized by Ms. Foteini, Ms. Dima and the Student Affairs Dept.
Accompanied by their own guide they completed a two hour tour covering the various exhibits.
On their journey to the Museum they passed the innovative Highway Gallery depicting giant replicas of masterpieces displayed on hoardings marking UAE Innovation Month.
During their visit they visited the “From one Louvre to Another” exhibition, which told the story of the origins of the original Louvre in Paris and included 150 masterpieces from the Chateau de Versailles and the Louvre’s earliest collections including paintings, sculptures, furniture and ceramics gathered worldwide.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is an art and civilization museum, established on November 8th 2017 as part of a thirty-year agreement between the City of Abu Dhabi and the French Government.
Artwork from around the world is showcased at the museum, with particular focus placed upon bridging the gap between Eastern and Western art.
After an action packed day which the students want to repeat, the final event was lunch by the Truck Stop at the last exit.
