It’s been 50 years since the independence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and its architectural landscape has never been so different. Evolving from a simple traditional Bedouin design, it has become more complex and contemporary, adopting sustainability, artificial intelligence, unique technologies, and innovation as the vision for future development.
Now, we want to see what vision you hold through our competition; "UAE 50 years: the Future is Now". We encourage you to participate by selecting a building you believe to be inspirational, either from the past, or one that paves the way for the future. You are also able to design something yourself that is true to you. The options are limitless!

WHAT IS IT?
High-school students, we want to see what building or design element represents the UAE for you. The goal is to channel what you see is the UAE's future in the field of architecture and interior design. You could choose from a variety of locations across the UAE, highlighting a new building you love, an old location that inspires you or challenge yourself and design something completely from scratch. The choice is yours, and all submissions are welcome!
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
At Canadian University Dubai, we believe the students of today are the leaders of tomorrow. With that in mind, grab your phone, camera, pencil, or paint brush and bring your work to life.
Submission options include:
- A model
- A sculpture
- An advanced drawing or a building sketch
- A photograph
- A painting
- For an extra challenge, visualize a new concept or building based on elements you see reflects the "UAE".
The medium you choose is up to you, just remember to focus on an architectural or interior design element.
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
Other than your choice of medium, and completing the artwork, nothing stands between you and your submission. You are not required to have any relation or background in Architecture or Interior Design, but instead wish to challenge yourself and explore a possible career in them.
WHEN CAN YOU START?
Now! Grab the nearest medium to you and explore the buildings of the UAE. Submissions are open, and close on January 9, 2022.
WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES?
The submission should reflect the future of the UAE or shows how local and modern concepts fuse to create a new type of architecture. Other than that, they should reflect what you see as the future of the UAE.
