Biography

Dr. Zaher Ali Al-Sai is an Assistant Professor of Business Analytics at the Faculty of Management, Canadian University Dubai (CUD), bringing over 10 years of academic and professional experience from the UAE, Jordan, and Malaysia. She earned her PhD in Big Data and Software Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), where her research focused on Big Data maturity models, digital transformation, and data-driven decision-making.

She is specialized in Business Analytics and Business Intelligence, with additional expertise in Software Engineering, Cloud Computing, Data Management and Visualization, and Digital Transformation.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Zaher has taught a wide range of courses in business analytics, databases, business intelligence, and digital transformation at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has supervised numerous student projects in data science and digital marketing, with several recognized in national and regional innovation competitions. Prior to joining CUD, she held faculty positions in the UAE, Jordan, and Malaysia, and also worked in the IT consultancy industry across multiple countries, gaining extensive practical experience in applying analytics to business solutions.

Dr. Zaher is an active researcher, with publications in Q1-ranked journals, IEEE conferences, and co-authored books on Big Data transformation and AI applications. She also serves as a reviewer for several international journals and conferences, contributing to the global academic community in data science and business analytics. Her research interests include data maturity assessment, AI in education and business, digital ecosystems, and innovation strategies.

Beyond academia, Dr. Zaher is a recognized community leader and advocate for women in STEM. She is the founder of the Arabian Women in Data Science (WiDS) initiative and served as CEO of Big Data Minds MENA, a nonprofit community advancing Big Data and AI education across the region. She is also an Ambassador of WiDS Stanford in the UAE and Jordan, where she organizes events to inspire and empower women and students in data science, AI, and analytics. Through these platforms, she has empowered hundreds of women and youth by providing training, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Her contributions have earned her multiple international awards and global recognitions, including the Stevie® Award for Women in Business, honors at the WomenTech Global Awards, and acknowledgment as one of the region’s leading voices in data and AI in 2022, 2023, and 2024. These recognitions reflect her influence both regionally and internationally as a thought leader in inclusive digital transformation.   
 
Dr. Zaher integrates academic expertise with social impact, striving to make technology education more inclusive and accessible. When not working, she enjoys volunteering in community initiatives, organizing WiDS Stanford events, mentoring students and professionals, reading, publishing, and helping orphaned children learn technology.

Pastime

Dr. Zaher enjoys volunteering in the community, where she has founded several initiatives to empower women, children, and students across the MENA region. As an Ambassador of WiDS (Women in Data Science) Stanford, she dedicates her time to organizing events that inspire and empower students in AI, data science, and analytics. She also values spending quality time with her family. In addition, she mentors young professionals and students outside the classroom as part of her ongoing commitment to community building. Dr. Zaher is passionate about reading, publishing, and volunteering to help orphaned children learn technology, enabling them to build skills and opportunities for a brighter future.
