October 17th, 2016: Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has been recognized as a leading academic institution in the region, collecting two accolades at the 2016 Middle East Education Leadership Awards, held recently in Dubai.
Business Professor, Dr. Chris Enyinda, received the award for Best Professor in Marketing and International Business, while Dean and Associate Professor, Dr. Hazim Al-Nijaidi, picked up the Education Leadership Award on behalf of the School of Architecture & Design.
Now in their sixth year, the Middle East Education Leadership Awards are presented by the Asian Confederation of Businesses. The Awards were established to celebrate individuals and institutions who demonstrate excellence in the application of leadership principles and who make a difference through the quality of their work, global reach and outlook, and their contribution to social change.
Candidates for the Awards are selected by a jury comprising of senior professionals from across the globe. Chief architect of the event, Dr R. L. Bhatia, said, “The Middle East Education Leadership Awards is an intensely researched process. These Awards are of the highest stature and are presented to individuals and institutions who have surpassed several levels of excellence and set an example of being a role model for exemplary leadership.”
The Awards ceremony was hosted to coincide with the World Sustainability Congress, and in keeping with the theme of the event, both CUD awardees have demonstrated strong credentials in promoting sustainable development in their relevant fields.
With research interests across a range of business sectors and disciplines, Dr. Enyinda is involved in work surrounding the future of sustainable supply chains, green marketing, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Following the Awards ceremony, he went on to join the debate about CSR strategy along with other delegates in attendance at the Congress.
Speaking about the Best Professor Award, Dr. Enyinda said, “I am honored and humbled to be recognized by an independent panel of esteemed professionals for my work, which is in itself immensely rewarding. This recognition provides an ever greater motivation to continue to pursue meaningful research and thereby contribute to positive change.”
For its part, the School of Architecture & Design carries a strong focus throughout its curriculum upon integrating environmental sustainability, community cohesion and smart technology within the design process.
Receiving the Leadership Award on behalf of the School, Dr. Hazim said, “We are delighted to receive this recognition, which reflects our growing stature among design schools in the region. With a curriculum that reflects international standards of professional architecture education, a rigorous review and examination process that reflects global benchmarks in the context of the UAE quality framework, alongside diverse faculty that bring transnational perspectives in design, the School has set itself apart and we are proud to be recognized through this Award.”
This year’s honors are added to a catalogue of accolades presented to CUD in previous editions of the Middle East Education Leadership Awards. University President Pr. Karim Chelli and Business School faculty members Dr. Rommel Sergio and Dr. Ahmad Jaffar are among previous winners at the event.
