Biography
Dr. Kiray M. Khoury is an Assistant Professor in the Communication and Media Department at Canadian University Dubai (CUD), bringing a wealth of teaching experience from the United Kingdom, Canada and Lebanon. She was awarded a full scholarship for her PhD at the University of East London, where her research centered on the adoption and adaptation of new technologies within Mass Media. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Khoury has taught a wide range of courses at institutions including the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), Notre Dame University (NDU), Lebanese University (LU) and UK International College (UKIC.) Her expertise spans subjects such as Communication, Consumer Behavior, Crisis Management, Advertising, Public Relations, Public Speaking, and Digital Marketing. She also founded and taught a curriculum about "Effective Communication Skills" for soldiers and generals in the Lebanese Army.
In addition to her teaching contributions, Dr. Khoury is an accomplished researcher with extensive experience in scriptwriting, media production, and Arab media studies. During her stay in Canada, she has actively contributed to various conferences and workshops focused on digital media, journalism, and social change. Dr. Khoury is also a certified mental health coach from Light University in the USA, specializing in youth mental health. She has participated in numerous mental health workshops in the UAE and is currently researching the impact of mass media, particularly social media, on the mental health of Generation Z. Fluent in both English and Arabic, Dr. Khoury has enhanced educational experiences by incorporating field trips for students and collaborating with international organizations such as Nestlé. She has also motivated students to create short awareness videos addressing the effects of social media on society.
Beyond academia, Dr. Khoury has extensive media industry experience, having worked as a scriptwriter, editor, and journalist at Future Television, where she also hosted her own television segment. She previously served as the Head of the Public Relations Department in Lebanon, leveraging her media expertise to shape future communication professionals.
