Biography

Michael Salvahan holds a degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering in the Philippines. Having worked both in the academic and industry settings, he brings over a decade of valuable experience in engineering, design and technology, and project management. His hands-on experience and technological knowledge have been sharpened through a decade of experimenting in engineering laboratories and collaborating with professionals in different fields.

He is currently working on his Master's Degree in Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Automation. This further study enables him to research how new and upcoming technologies can be used across different industries, specifically the creative industries. He is keen to merge technical innovation with design in order to make systems and processes intelligent and efficient.

Michael is tasked with helping students and staff with running a variety of machineries and equipment in the departmental laboratories, such as the Digital Laboratory and Construction and Fabrication Laboratory. He believes good design is part of understanding how things are built—and the machinery that builds them. From his experience, he intends to equip students with the knowledge to use technology more effectively and confidently in their own design.

With his experience of working in the laboratory environments over all those years, Michael still seeks opportunities to enhance the usage of the laboratories at Canadian University Dubai. His aim is to make them more efficient, organized, and student-centered so that they can help the learning and creativity of Architecture and Interior Design students more effectively.
