Serkan Günay is an architect (IZTECH), Conservation Specialist (METU) and holds a PhD in Architecture from Oxford Brookes University – UK. 

His research interest focuses on the digitalization of lost architecture and urban areas in diverse historic towns and cities. Particularly, he focuses on contested heritage settlements and the impact of contestation on heritage, memory and identity relations. The research areas include the integration of digital technologies for the visualization process with Geographical Information Systems, Image-Based Modeling, Photogrammetric Modeling, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality and their applications on various platforms.

In addition to his professional experience architectural design and heritage regeneration, he has been teaching Architecture, Design and Creative Industries courses at various universities in Turkey, Oman, USA, UAE and UK.

Mr. Gunay’s research interests are in architectural preservation, geographical information systems and spatial information systems.
