What is IELTS?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world's most popular high-stakes English language proficiency test for study, work and migration with more than 2.9 million tests taken globally in 2016.

IELTS results are recognized by more than 10,000 organizations, including educational institutions, employers, professional associations and governments, in over140 countries around the world.

IELTS test format

IELTS is a test of all four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

You will take the listening, reading and writing tests all on the same day one after the other, with no breaks in between. You may also sit the speaking test on the same day, or it may be scheduled up to 7 days either before or after the test date. Contact the test centre for more information.

Canadian University Dubai (CUD) partners with IDP IELTS Dubai to provide IELTS testing services at the CUD campus.

How to register for IELTS

At the office:

Visit the IELTS registration office at the CUD campus to register for the IELTS test. You have to bring the following:

  • Your original passport or National Identity Card (NIC)
  • IELTS test fees (AED 1,100 inclusive of VAT, effective starting 1st March 2019).

Online

HOW MUCH ARE THE IELTS TEST FEES?

  • IELTS test fees (AED 1,100 inclusive of VAT, effective starting 1st March 2019).
  • The cost for IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training is the same
  • You must pay your fee when you fill in your IELTS Application Form at the office or within 2 days if you register online.

Test Schedules


IELTS Results

Your official Test Report Form (TRF) will be released to you 13 days after the test.

You can preview your results online here.

Note: the system will not display results for more than 28 days after your test date. This online preview is for your information only and cannot be used as official confirmation of your IELTS result.

You must collect your Test Report Form (TRF) from Recruitment Office in Hall C, Registration Desk 3.

You need to bring the form of identity you used to register for the test in order to pick up your TRF.

The Test Report Form shows your IELTS scores for all four skills areas: listening, reading, writing and speaking, and your overall band score.

You will receive only one copy of your Test Report Form. Replacements cannot be issued.

Request for Additional TRFs

You may request additional Test Report Forms (TRFs) to be sent on your behalf to recognizing organizations (universities, professional bodies, immigration authorities, etc.) at any time within a two year period.

TEST DAY TRANSFER, CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Request for cancellation or postponement of your IELTS test must be made strictly 5 weeks before the test date via email or in person only. Telephone cancellation or postponement will not be accepted.

If you postpone or cancel your application more than five (5) weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus 25% administration fee.

If you postpone or cancel within five (5) weeks of the test date, you will be charged the full fee unless you have a serious medical reason.

If you provide a medical certificate within five (5) days of the test date, you will receive a refund minus the 25% administrative cost. The certificate should provide evidence that your ability to sit for the test has been affected by serious illness or cause, such as:

  • Serious Illness – hospital admission or serious injury
  • Loss or Bereavement – death of a close family member
  • Hardship/Trauma – victim of a crime, victim of a traffic accident
  • Military Service

You must complete a “Request for Refund” or “Test Day Transfer Form” and attach appropriate documentation and/or evidence; such as a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner, a death notice or certificate or a police report. Failure to appear for the test without notification is considered a cancellation, no refund will be issued, and you must register and pay again if you wish to take the test on another date.

ENQUIRY ON IELTS RESULTS

If you are not happy with your IELTS results, you can apply for an Enquiry on Results within six weeks of the test date. You must pay an enquiry fee, which is fully refunded if your band score changes.

When can I apply for an Enquiry on Result?

This request must be made within six weeks of the test date on the Test Report Form.

How long will this process take?

The Enquiry on Results will be processed within six to eight weeks. You will receive a letter via email confirming your final score from your test centre after this time.

Important points

  • There is no appeal after this re-mark, the decision is final.
  • You have to send the original TRF to the test centre you received it from.
  • During the period of remarking your test results cannot be used to apply for a university or to be sent to an immigration office.
  • Should the scores change after the Enquiry on Results, we will issue a new Test Report Form for the candidate, who can apply for (5) five extra copies to be sent to receiving institutions free of charge within one month of the printing date at the bottom of the new Test Report Form.
  • For those whose scores remain the same we will return the original Test Report Form to the candidate and there will be no refund.
