Belgian Ambassador to the UAE Visits CUD Art Collection

March 27th, 2017: Her Excellency Dominique Mineur, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, has paid a visit to Canadian University Dubai (CUD) to view an exhibition by the University’s new artist in residence, Francoise Palsterman.

The Belgian artist, known professionally as F.man, guided HE Madame Mineur through the collection of works that contains, among others, portrait paintings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

F.man, who originates from Brussels, has an ongoing exhibition of paintings in the Belgian capital at 'La Truffe Noire', the Michelin star and favored restaurant of Rulers and Ambassadors, including HE Madame Mineur. Her artworks are characterized by the influence of personal perspective in the interpretation of the surrounding reality.

F.man had already established herself on the UAE art scene before joining CUD as both an art instructor and artist in residence earlier this month. She spent time at the Liwa Art Hub in Abu Dhabi, where she found inspiration in the bright light of the desert, the culture of the Emirates, and the traditional Arabic perfumes and incenses, which came to influence the color pallet, the intensity and the patterns in her paintings and sculptures.

Having exhibited at Dubai Heritage Village, City Walk, the Burj Khalifa and Abu Dhabi Art, Sheikha Roudha bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan invited F.man to give an artistic lecture at the Sea of Culture Foundation event at Sharjah Expo.

HE Madame Mineur’s tour of F.man’s collection at CUD was followed by a meeting with University President, Pr. Karim Chelli, and the presentation of tokens of appreciation.
