Experts Discuss the Present and Future of AI in Education

January 24, 2025, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE): Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has hosted the much-anticipated AI in Dubai Conference, a flagship event dedicated to examining the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. Staged on January 20th at the university’s campus in City Walk Dubai, the event convened experts, academics, and thought leaders from North America, Europe, and the UAE, to explore how AI is reshaping learning, higher education, and university systems to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.

The forum commenced with a Welcoming Note by Dr. Hikmat Beaini, President of the AI in Dubai Conference. Dr. Beaini underscored the necessity of integrating AI into education as a tool for innovation and adaptability in the face of global advancements.

The Conference continued with a Keynote Speech by Dr. Dima Jamali, Vice President of University Advancement at CUD, who emphasized the crucial role of educational institutions in leveraging AI to enhance student learning, streamline academic processes, and promote innovation.  
 
Dr. Haythem El-Messiry, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at CUD, delivered a Special Presentation on "AI and Canadian University Dubai," showcasing how CUD is embracing cutting-edge technologies and offering unique programs, including a specialized Master’s degree in AI, to prepare students for the future of AI-powered education.

Future 10X, a leader in AI-driven business solutions, went on to introduce its AI Chief, an innovative AI model designed to assist CEOs and leaders in optimizing their roles through digital tools, transforming business operations, and decision-making processes.  
 
Special remarks were delivered by Mohamed Hafez, Lecturer at Johns Hopkins University, who provided a global perspective on how AI in education can bridge knowledge gaps, promote inclusivity, and drive advancements in underserved communities.  

Panel Discussion: AI in Higher Education
The highlight of the event was the panel discussion titled “AI in Higher Education”, which brought together a diverse group of experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by AI in revolutionizing universities.  

Moderated by Mohamed Hafez, CEO of ByteWise, Lecturer at Johns Hopkins University and co-moderated by Alexander Rondel,  Junior Student Life Officer at Canadian University Dubai, the panel featured the following distinguished speakers:  

  • Dr. Jihene Mrabet, Program Leader of Master of Psychology at Amity University Dubai.
  • Dr. Haythem El-Messiry, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at CUD.
  • Eugene Pribytkov, CEO at Voicee - AI Academy for Educators.

The panel explored how AI is redefining personalized learning experiences, enhancing administrative efficiency, and empowering educators with innovative tools. The discussion also tackled critical issues such as data privacy, ethical considerations, and the potential disruption to traditional teaching models.
