Canadian University Dubai (CUD) and Memac Ogilvy, one of the largest marketing communications networks in the world, have signed a memorandum of understanding, allowing for cooperation on a range of initiatives in Advertising, Integrated Marketing Communications and Public Relations. Students will have access to internships, lectures and mentoring from industry experts to nurture their career aspirations.
On October 22nd, 16 Bachelor of Communication students led by Professor Ode Amaize, Head of the Department of Communication and Media visited the Memac Ogilvy Offices in Sheikh Zayed Road. They were introduced to Ogilvy’s best integrated marketing campaigns for international brands such as Coca Cola, KFC, Dubai 2020 and Ikea and were presented with a professional creative brief, which will provide them real-word experience and a unique opportunity to apply concepts and strategies. Students will be coached by Ogilvy professional staff and will work in teams on the integrated marketing campaign (including media strategy), as part of their coursework. Teams will pitch their campaign to senior executives at Ogilvy.
Professor David Santandreu Calonge, Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Arts and Sciences attended the briefing and said : “We are absolutely delighted to have signed a partnership with Memac Ogilvy. Students are often hungry to work on authentic professional briefs yet all too often the briefs they get at university are considered as ‘virtual’. Having experts in advertising, PR and branding explaining to students the challenges encountered by professionals and the strategies that may be applied to tackle them was an amazing experience for our students”.
