January 17 2018, Canadian University Dubai: Three teams of students, each with four members from Engineering and Business took part in the Annual KPMG Case Study Competition. The event was facilitated by Nina Anderson, Senior Associate with KPMG.
KPMG’s International Case Competition is an opportunity to experience the fast-paced world of casework and meet new people. The competition encourages individuals to embark on a continuous journey of learning and self-improvement. They will also gain first-hand experience of the type of work KPMG member firms undertake, while receiving valuable coaching from industry experts and KPMG leaders.
Ms. Anderson, introduced the format for the competition after which the teams were given a Case Study to work on for an hour. After this they were required to present their findings to a panel of KPMG representatives.
Prior to the presentation rounds, the teams received support, mentoring and advice from Moubin Mouayad Abou Al Zahab, a Finance graduate from Canadian University Dubai. Mouayad was a member of last year’s university team that went on to compete in the National Finals. As a result of his performance, he was subsequently offered an Internship with KPMG where he is now in full time employment.
The Competition is being held across 12 UAE Universities after which a total of 12 teams will go forward to the National Round. The eventual winning team from this round will have the opportunity to advance to the International Competition Finals being held this year in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in April.
One of the teams involving Shahira Khanand, Mehak Fathima Ashfaq, Mehmood Butt from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and Artem Lyubin and Noura Itani from the Department of Management have been invited to the National Finals.
Before the National Competition at the end of next week, they’ll be participating in preparation workshops organized by KPMG.
We wish them well in the Competition. Watch this space for further News.
