Communication Students Discover Impacts of Media on Security

November 14th, 2016: Students from the School of Communication and Media Studies at Canadian University Dubai (CUD) have heard from a representative of the Dubai Police Force about the impact that the media can have upon security and community solidarity.

Ms. Suad Alnuami from the Dubai Police media team discussed the prevailing challenges and opportunities for social cohesion in the modern communications environment.

The seminar revealed the significance of security media in society and its positive role in promoting happiness among the country’s residents. It also explored the different functions and strategies adopted by the security sector to maintain social stability.

Ms. Alnuami went on to address important questions, including where the responsibilities lie in media security, and the challenges faced by the media to maintain cohesion and solidarity across all aspects of society.

The seminar was organized by Assistant Professor, Dr. Wided Dafri, which said, “The objective of this seminar was to create awareness among students of the importance of social cohesiveness, both inside the University as well as throughout society at large.”
