May 15th, 2016: Alumni from Canadian University Dubai (CUD) have reunited to go head to head with existing students in the first meeting of the current and former university basketball teams.
Cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd, the teams played out a hard-fought match that saw the students dominate the first half, with the alumni team coming back in the second. By the end of the game, nothing could separate the two teams and the match ended in deadlock with a final score of 59 points each.
The game was organized by CUD Sports Manager, Mr. John Sherratt, and captain of the student basketball team, Dino Skikic, who has played with members of both the student and alumni teams during his time at the university.
Dino said, “As I’m about to graduate myself, I thought it would be a good opportunity to initiate this alumni-student competition and to bring together these two skillful sets of challengers.
“Both groups trained hard for the event and it was great to see the friendly rivalry between what were evenly matched sides. I hope this will be the first of many matches and I look forward staying connected with the university through the sport, and coming back as a member of the alumni team.”
