February 21st, 2016: Students from Canadian University Dubai (CUD) have joined the international movement for a sustainable, unpolluted society, taking part in a clean-up of Dubai’s Sunset Beach as part of the recent Waste Free Environment Week.
The School of Public Health and Health Sciences and the CUD Environment Club organized the participation of students from across the University in Dubai’s fourth annual staging of the event. The students were among 800 participants collecting over 1,200kg of waste as part of 52 tons collected across the global campaign.
Launched by the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) and supported by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, and Dubai Municipality, the Waste Free Environment campaign was established to promote more responsible attitudes towards litter disposal, and to encourage the 3Rs: Reuse-Reduce-Recycle.
