CUD Painter Exhibits Equine Art Collection at Dubai World Cup

March 29th, 2015: Mr. Sylvain Tremblay, resident artist at Canadian University Dubai (CUD), has wowed race-goers with an alternative display of equine elegance as he exhibited his recently crafted collection of horse paintings at this year’s Dubai World Cup.

Tremblay, who is a visiting lecturer at CUD’s School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was invited to exhibit his work to an audience of VIP guests at the world’s richest horse race, which this year celebrated its 20th anniversary at Meydan Racecourse.

Best known for his world record-breaking portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed, crafted from the desert sands, Tremblay has become a regular exhibitor at sporting events in the UAE, having already presented some of his works at the 2014 Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Using a combination of the more traditional paint on canvas along with sand to create a textured finish, the artist created three different equine images as a tribute to the prestigious annual horserace.

Tremblay’s World Cup collection featured two striking, close-up images illustrating the majestic features of the horse, while the third featured a race lineup depicting the thrill of the great competition.

Tremblay revealed, “It was a huge honor for me to be able to exhibit my work at such a prestigious event. It was the perfect setting to display these works; the guests were particularly interested in the image of the race, as it captured the whole atmosphere of the day.”
