July 2nd, 2024, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE): Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has launched the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in a Sustainable World,” a groundbreaking certificate program in collaboration with UC Berkeley AMENA and World Innovations Network (WIN). This unique program aims to inspire, mentor and nurture future leaders through hands-on projects and mentor-based training from entrepreneurs, distinguished professors, and accomplished experts from Silicon Valley.
The program was initiated under the leadership of Dr. Dima Jamali, Vice President of Academic Affairs at CUD. Currently, the program is being led by Dr. Dariush Zahedi, Director of UC Berkeley AMENA, Mojgan Momeni, co-founder and Executive Director of WIN, notable professors, and industry experts. Their combined expertise and mentorship will guide participants through the complex world of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Reflecting on the significance of the program, Dr. Dima Jamali remarked, “The Berkeley Summer Entrepreneurship Program, in partnership with UC Berkeley AMENA and top Silicon Valley experts, is a landmark initiative empowering CUD student to foster entrepreneurial mindsets and drive sustainable innovation. By combining world-class mentorship with experiential learning, we are equipping CUD future leaders to tackle global challenges and create positive change in a rapidly evolving world aligning with the UN 2030 agenda and the 17 SDGs.”
Key objectives of the program include promoting a global entrepreneurial mindset, fostering market-driven innovation, enhancing problem-solving skills, encouraging ethical and sustainable business practices, building leadership and team management skills, and facilitating networking and collaborative learning.
The eight-week program is meticulously designed for university students, graduates and professionals interested in developing entrepreneurial skills and leadership qualities. It offers a comprehensive, project-based curriculum utilizing advanced AI technologies to create sustainable business solutions. Participants will address real-world problems related to social, environmental, and economic sustainability, creating an ecosystem for innovation and market-oriented projects. The participants will have the rare opportunity to receive real-time mentorship from over 150 mentors and entrepreneurs, who bring nearly 4,000 years of combined experience in high-demand fields.
Additionally, the program provides an incubator environment for nurturing innovative ideas into successful businesses. Final projects are evaluated by local and international experts, including educators, investors, and successful entrepreneurs, providing participants with valuable feedback and networking opportunities.
Upon completion, participants will receive certificates from UC Berkeley’s AMENA Center for Entrepreneurship & Development, signifying their preparedness to contribute to the global economy as forward-thinking leaders and innovators.
