August 5, 2025, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE): We are proud to share that Canadian University Dubai student, Anthony Ibrahim, from the School of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology (SEAST), has secured second place in the prestigious International Moon Day 2025 competition for his visionary design of a UAE Moon Station. Anthony is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering.
The competition, hosted by the Moon Village Association and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), took place on July 20. His innovative project was supervised by Assistant Professor, Dr. Salih Rashid Majeed, who accepted the award on Anthony’s behalf alongside Dr. Tamer Mohamed Abdellatif Mohamed, Chair of the Department of Computer Engineering and Computational Sciences.
Dr. Salih praised the accomplishment as a reflection of the outstanding quality, creativity, and innovation within CUD’s engineering programs. He emphasized that this achievement showcases the advanced skills and global competitiveness of our students, while also aligning with the goals of the UAE National Space Strategy 2030.
This milestone reinforces the strength of our SEAST programs and inspires our students to continue shaping the future of space exploration.
