CUD Students Connect with Top Employers at Campus Career Fair

March 28th, 2016: Students at Canadian University Dubai (CUD) have been connecting with some of the region’s top employers at the annual Career Fair hosted recently on campus.

A wide range of employment and internship opportunities were on offer to students from across the University’s seven academic schools, as multinational corporations joined leading UAE firms to find talented individuals to help progress their business goals.

Among the companies represented were global banking and financial services organization, HSBC, whose team were on the lookout to recruit candidates specifically for the company’s graduate development schemes.

With CUD’s renowned undergraduate architecture program, there was also a strong representation from companies in the design sector, including the Gulf branch of established architectural practice, Brewer Smith and Brewer.

This year’s turnout demonstrated that the market for skilled graduates is still buoyant in the regional workforce. According to Simone Beretta, HR Manager at Bosch Middle East, students and graduates of both technical and business-related disciplines are still in strong demand by the multinational engineering and electronics firm.

He said, “We are particularly experiencing growth in our power tools division as major construction and infrastructure projects advance across the region. This is our third time at the CUD Career Fair and we come again this year looking to find graduates and interns who can fill positions in marketing, human resources, purchasing, logistics and corporate communications, as well as roles in engineering.

“What’s important to us – for both internship and long-term positions – is that candidates can prove they have an interest in the business and a passion to learn. We offer a number of different routes for entry into the company and welcome opportunities like this to meet with the next generation of professional talent.”

Organized by the Student Affairs department and supported by a team of student volunteers, the Fair saw a steady stream of students meeting with employers to showcase their knowledge and skills. With a number of successful outcomes from previous editions of the annual event, it is expected that the 2016 Fair will also generate long-term employment prospects for many of its participants.
