CUD Students Learn About the Next Generation of Business Technology

March 15th, 2015: Students from Canadian University Dubai (CUD) have been given a fascinating insight into the next generation of business analytics technology at a guest lecture led by Ms. Helle Dochedahl from leading enterprise software corporation SAP.

Helle discussed how technology and data have been changing the world of business, especially with the emergence of the Internet of Things. She explained how SAP’s next generation business suite – known as SAP S/4HANA – is poised to radically transform business analysis processes, making them more simple and efficient, and ultimately enhancing the customer experience.

The recently launched SAP S/4HANA platform aims to harness big data to solve business-critical questions anywhere and in real-time. It has the capacity to draw upon information from all of a company’s resources, including analytics, mobile data, and applications – both on the premises and in the cloud – to perform advanced analytics that can inform business strategy.

Students received unique insights into how the technology can impact upon an organization’s performance, with the ultimate aim being to optimize business operations, and gain a competitive advantage.

The guest lecture was part of CUD’s mission to embed applied learning into the curriculum, allowing undergraduate students to interact with industry experts and hear about the latest advances in technology from leading professionals in the field.

With over 20 years’ service at SAP, Helle has held many leadership positions in the West Europe, Africa and Middle East (EMEA) region, including COO of a market, heading the education of customers and partners in a market unit, leading presales for SAP Nordics, and heading different parts of the EMEA presales team.

Asked about how the businessmen and women of the future can best prepare themselves for the technological revolution that is currently sweeping through industry, Helle advised student to try and expose themselves to new technologies as they emerge, and gain as much experience as possible.

As a result of the University’s ongoing partnership with SAP, CUD has established its own eBusiness Lab, which replicates the technical setup of a typical departmentalized office. The first of its kind in the UAE, the Lab gives CUD students a real-world insight into the application of the technology in business operations, providing them with a practical understanding of what it’s like to work in the corporate world.
