Education Quality Expert Addresses CUD Leaders

May 14th, 2015: Senior members of faculty and staff at Canadian University Dubai (CUD) have heard from leading international quality expert Dr. Terry Miosi about benchmarking and assessment in the higher education sector.

Sharing his extensive expertise, Dr. Miosi spoke about the significance of performance standards and how they are developed, implemented and measured throughout the region and beyond.

Now a Partner in consulting and external assessment firm, Quality Assessors International, Dr. Miosi previously spent 25 years with the Government of Ontario, where he held the positions of Acting Director of the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board, and Deputy Superintendent of the Private Career Colleges Unit. He was also a founding member of the National Accreditation Commission of Canada and most recently served as Senior Consultant to the UAE Qualifications Framework Project.

In his presentation, Dr. Miosi went on to discuss the different trends that exist across institutions in relation to the selection of performance indicators, and highlighted the growing tendencies towards value added assessment, which focusses on measuring student progression as a benchmark for quality assurance.

Following the workshop, CUD President, Dr. Karim Chelli, presented Dr. Miosi with a token of appreciation.
