M.b.a Students Visits the Dubai Financial Market

November 6, 2017 – Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The Master of Business Administration program organized a field trip for its students to visit the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) under the supervision of Dr. Elgilani Elshareif, Director of MBA/MIT.

The students were welcomed by two DFM staff members who presented to the attendees a history of the DFM and the many features that place it at the forefront of global financial markets including information on trading sessions, stock exchange, services to investors, and the extensive database of companies listed on the DFM.

CUD graduate students learned how investors buy and sell stocks in publicly-traded companies both on the trading floor and electronically while observing first-hand how the market functions in real-time. It also provided our students with relevant data for a major project about the UAE insurance market’s changing regulatory environment and for a financial research project involving a complete financial analysis of several companies listed on the DFM.

As part of the event, DFM staff members gave our graduate students a tour of the trading floor providing them with a first hand and in person look at trading as it happened whilst explaining the process of trading, how to read the data on trading screens, trade volume, and the movement of stock prices.
