Motivational Speakers Inspire CUD Students to Become Involved in Humanitarian Action

October 29th, 2018: Students in the Red Theatre heard two motivational speakers present an energizing workshop dedicated to the importance and value of giving back to society.

The title of the event, “Lifting Others to Rise Up” was organized by CUD’s Humanitarian Club, CUDCares.

One of the speakers, Ms. Liesel Elges, Student Counselor at CUD highlighted the importance of humanitarian work in a variety of different situations. She explained how this work helps provide us with perspective and insight, and outlined some of the humanitarian issues facing our world today.

She suggested how students might approach these issues saying, “while people often say that they have no money to give to charity, this not the most important issue. Very often, all you need to do is give is your time, a warm smile, and a loving embrace.”

Ms. Noha Mahdi, founder and CEO of the Mawada Project, which has collaborated with CUD in the past, also addressed  the audience.

She spoke at great length about  the value and benefits of humanitarian work, not just for those who are in need, but for everybody. She went on to describe how helping the less fortunate can elevate everyone on earth.

At a very responsive and interactive event, many students could be seen gathering around the speakers, to find out how they could give back to the community.

The event’s mission, to inspire  humanitarian interest in students was pronounced an over-all success.
