November 17th, 2016: His Excellency Mr. Masud Husain has paid an early visit to Canadian University Dubai (CUD) as he assumes his new role as Canada’s ambassador to the UAE.
H.E. Mr. Husain was accompanied at the engagement by H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Kamarianakis, Canadian Consul General to Dubai and the Northern Emirates. During his visit H.E. Mr. Husain commented, “Canadian education is fantastic and it is wonderful to see an institution like CUD promoting it here in the UAE.”
The VIP delegation met with University Chancellor, Mr. Buti Saeed Al Ghandi, along with members of the senior management team, to discuss Canadian higher education in the region. Mr. Al Ghandi spoke about the shared values of Canada and the UAE, and how they are embedded in the vision of CUD.
Revealing the University’s close ties with Canada, Provost, Dr. Muhammed Kabir, discussed the many partnerships that CUD holds with Canadian institutions. Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Djeddi, went on to talk about how CUD provides a bridge for students from the UAE to complete their degree or pursue higher studies in Canada, and Chief Advancement Officer, Mr. Christophe Savard, highlighted the esteem for the Canadian brand in the UAE.
The discussions progressed to consider the role of Canadian higher education in the development of the UAE, with H.E. Mr. Kamarianakis focussing on the University’s partnership with Dubai Municipality in the design and implementation of its Associate Degree in Food Safety, which, like all CUD’s programs, is based upon the Canadian curriculum.
The visit concluded with a tour of the University’s downtown campus and facilities.
