September 16th, 2015: Seven students from the Canadian University Dubai (CUD) School of Architecture and Interior Design have reached the finals of the Marina Home Project Remake competition, which will see one lucky winner awarded a career-defining internship at the Schwitzke Group’s base in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Interior Design students Meerah Sultan, Fereshteh Kalantari, Amna Alamir, Alaa Rashed and Aya Faour, along with Architecture students Cobra Jahany and Rishem Adnan, will now see their innovative designs exhibited at the Commercial Interior Design (CID) Awards, an annual event that attracts the who’s who of the design community in the region.
The competition challenged senior students to take a simple chair and use their skills and creativity to transform it into a winning design that reflects their personality and flair. Participants had just seven days to turn their design concepts into reality and present them to the panel of judges, which went on to assess the entries based on creativity, design functionality, quality of execution and optimum usage.
The seven students will now go head to head with three of their counterparts from American University in Dubai in the final stage of the competition, which will involve the assessment of the judging panel being combined with a public vote to determine who will be named ‘Marina Design Star 2015’ and win the prestigious three-month internship.
