Sixty Canadian University Dubai students participated in a “Suggestion Box Design” student competition during the spring 2017 semester as part of their first year design studio course, DESI 102 Fundamentals of Design. The students were asked to design and produce an original and innovative model to be built and used by the University community.
In total around 60 students submitted their proposals which were displayed, along with drawings and design information, during the University’s Open House in May 2017.
A panel consisting of a student representative of the Architecture Student Council and two faculty members ranked the submissions based on creativity and design quality.
Accordingly, the following students were rewarded with certificates and cash prices; in 1st place for their “Robotic” suggestion box were students, Sanaz Dehghan, Yara Gamal and Azaliya Baimenova. Saule Muratova and Aigerim Yedilbayeva came second for their “Balloon” box idea. Third place went to two teams, Riam Franz for his “Open Book” suggestion box and Shada Mohammad and Dana Nedal for their “Stacked Books “box. Fourth place went to Tabarek Al Dabbas for his “Wings” box idea.
The winning box will be built and placed in reception at Canadian University Dubai.
