May 17th, 2018: At an awards ceremony in the Red Theatre, the sporting achievements of our students were recognized by Mr. John Sherratt, CUD Sports Manager. The ceremony honoured the individuals and teams who had competed throughout the year in inter-university and in-house competitions.
In CUD’s own version of the World Cup, the trophy went to the five-man team from Morocco. In the pool tournament, Haitham Joud took the title with Abdallah Baswaid as the runner-up. The basketball three-a-side was won by Zenah, Artur and Mohammed. The tennis league title went to Patrick Saba with runner-up Dhruv Punjwani. The football sevens winner was Hamada’s team.
In addition to the competitions, there were also individual awards for the “Most Valuable Players.” These went to Zenah Sareji (women’s basketball), Reham Sabri Omar (women’s volleyball), Ahmed Omar (men’s football) and Artur Gareyev (men’s basketball).
