November 28th, 2018 CUD Red Theatre: Students, faculty and staff of Canadian University Dubai came together in a celebration of the UAE’s culture and heritage and to mark 47th UAE National Day 2018, in the year of Zayed, the Founding Father of our Nation.
National Day marks the anniversary of the establishment of the UAE and celebrates the nation’s peace and prosperity under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The celebrations featured the long history and traditions of the UAE and its people and the words of the late Sheikh Zayed were reflected on video.
Following the playing of the UAE National Anthem and a welcome by Dr. Rami El Khatib, Dean of Student Affairs, the event went on to honour the cultural aspects of Emirati society with poems, recitals, and dance featuring our CUD students.
There were songs from Dubai EnSENble our very own choir for the Determined Ones conducted by Mr. Rivaan Mager, Music Coordinator and the CUD Choir conducted by Mojoyinoluwa Oke, one of our students.
The event concluded with a celebration of the country’s traditional food in Hall C where staff students and faculty were able to mingle and celebrate this important occasion while experiencing the Emirati culture and atmosphere through an attractive display of local arts.
