Commemorating UAE Flag Day at Canadian University Dubai | 2023

 

November 3rd, 2023 | Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The community of Canadian University Dubai (CUD) came together to mark the United Arab Emirates Flag Day on November 3rd, 2023. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Buti Saeed Al Ghandi, Chancellor of CUD; and Prof. Karim Chelli, CUD President & Vice-Chancellor; in the presence of a full auditorium of students, faculty, and staff. 

CUD student Rashed Humaid Al Ghandi, opened the ceremony and during his speech, said: “The UAE flag stands as an emblem of unity, heritage, and the pioneering vision that has transformed this great nation into what it is today.”

Followed by an address from Dr. Rami El Khatib, the Dean of Student Affairs; who said: “We gather to honour a very special occasion, the United Arab Emirates Flag Day. We express our profound appreciation to the founders and visionary leaders of the UAE nation. The UAE Flag is inspired by the colours of unity, incorporating red, white, green and black, to symbolize solidarity, peace, prosperity, and strength. It stands as an emblem of our authentic history and rich heritage. We have the privilege of carrying this legacy forward. This Flag Day is a reminder of the potential within us, to contribute to the continued growth of this nation.”

Speaking about UAE Flag Day, Jummah Buti Saeed Al Ghandi, President of CUD’s Student Council, said: “This cherished ceremony is a meaningful reminder of the spirit and unity that defines us as a nation, a testament to our commitment to cultivating an inclusive and innovative society, built upon tolerance and unity. As we proudly raise our flags high, let us take a moment to honour the legacy of our forefathers whose sacrifices and resilience laid the foundations of our nation's progress, and recognizing the visionary leaders who have guided us on paths of advancement. Let us carry forward the values represented by our flag, ensuring that future generations continue to uphold the legacy and the honourable principles it represents.” 

Hessa Rahimi, a member of CUD’s staff shared an inspiring poem. The National Anthem was performed excellently on the piano by CUD student, Shaima Alhai. 

The audience stood respectfully to observe while CUD students, Jummah Buti Saeed Alghandi and Alya Abdulaziz Abdulkhaliq Khaled; raised the UAE flag.
