December 8, 2025, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE): We are proud to announce that a team of first-year students from the School of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology (SEAST) at Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has secured 2nd place in the prestigious AI Genesis Hackathon 2025, held in conjunction with the /function1 AI Conference & Exhibition in Dubai.
The team, comprising Adam Buljubasic, Muhammad Dayyen Ahmad, and Adam Benazieb, impressed the judges with their innovative AI-powered solution, ParkSense. Their project reimagines urban parking as an intelligent operations console, leveraging real-time telemetry, Google Maps integration, and AI-driven insights to optimize parking space discovery and reduce traffic congestion in city environments.
Hosted by Lablab.ai, the competition attracted over 4,800 participants and 600+ teams from across the globe. The hackathon included both online collaboration and an exclusive in-person final round at Festival Arena Dubai. Teams were challenged to develop impactful AI applications across various domains, showcasing their creativity, coding skills, and real-world problem-solving capabilities.
This outstanding achievement by our first-year students highlights the depth of talent and innovation at SEAST and reflects our commitment to experiential, industry-aligned learning from the very start of a student’s academic journey.
Dr. Sherif Moussa, Dean of SEAST, commented:
“We are extremely proud of our students’ success at such a high-level international competition. Their ability to conceptualize and deliver a sophisticated AI solution at this early stage in their academic careers speaks volumes about their potential and the strength of our programs.”
CUD congratulates the team on this remarkable milestone and looks forward to seeing more ground-breaking innovations from our students in the growing field of artificial intelligence.
