CUD Graduate Carves Career with Leading Global Missions Group

June 23rd, 2015: Supporting assignments like the mobilization of the US Government response to the Ebola outbreak and the maintenance of high-threat diplomatic facilities abroad is all in a day’s work for Canadian University Dubai (CUD) graduate Hussein Akberali, who is carving a successful career for himself with PAE, a leading provider of enduring support for essential global missions.

Hussein was among the first cohort of CUD graduates when he collected a Bachelor of Business Administration in E-Business at the University’s inaugural convocation in 2011. Four years on, and having recently graduated from the Master of Business Administration program at CUD, he is now taking a leading role in the business systems training of personnel involved in complex US Government missions across the Middle East and Africa.

Hussein started out with PAE in 2010 on an internship as part of his undergraduate degree program at CUD. As an organization with a wide portfolio of expertise, from aviation and logistics, to critical facility infrastructure and national security solutions, PAE offered him the opportunity to develop his skills in a highly professional and challenging workplace.

He explained, “From the very first day when I met the senior executive team I was exposed to a dynamic and exciting work environment, which called upon critical lessons I’d learnt in subjects such as organizational behavior and business ethic, as well as the technical side of my degree program.”

Impressed by the contribution he had made to the organization during his initial tenure, Hussein was invited back to PAE to take up a full-time position as a Subcontract Administrator following his graduation. His skills, attitude and initiative subsequently led him to be appointed to his current role, which involves deployment, application and internal training for the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Mr. David Klassen, Senior Subcontracts Administrator at PAE’s offices in Dubai said, “Hussein brought the right attitude to his internship in our office, as he was always flexible and open to learning something new about the field of business that he wouldn’t have otherwise learnt in the classroom.

“He also brought great initiative and after time, he was able to take on special projects that he worked on independently, which highlighted some of his skills in software application. Because of this, we saw great potential in Hussein during his internship, and were able to bring him on as a full time employee, where he continues to this day to develop his skills and grow within the company.”

Having handled the transition between the company’s ERP systems, Hussein is now turning his attention to supporting the implementation of new processes in human resource management, which is a vital role in an organization with a high volume of field-based personnel.

“Every day brings a new challenge and a new opportunity to learn”, said Hussein. “I really value the knowledge I gained at CUD and, particularly during my MBA, the opportunities I had to network and learn from others.”
