CUD Professor Speaks at International Conference on Wireless and Telecommunication

May 24th, 2016: Dr. Adel Ben Mnaouer, Associate Professor in the School of Engineering, Applied Science & Technology at Canadian University Dubai (CUD), has addressed the second International Conference and Business Expo on Wireless and Telecommunication, held recently in Dubai.

Speaking on the subject, ‘Internet-of-Things, Cyber-physical Systems demarcation and contribution to the Big Data realm’, Dr. Mnaouer was among an international line-up of distinguished scientists invited to address the two-day conference.

In his presentation, Dr. Mnaouer drew upon his own research surrounding ubiquitous health monitoring and autonomous air quality diagnostics systems to demonstrate the growing significance and reliance upon the Internet of Thing (IoT).

Reflecting on the ongoing proliferation of consumer electronic devices, Dr. Mnaouer revealed the increasing burden of Big Data, and the challenges for data analytics researchers in providing ever smarter expert systems and data miners to filter out data and infer trends, patterns, and projections as accurately as possible.

He went on to discuss the technologies that enable IoT systems and the scope for when IoT enabling is vital for an application or project, concluding with an assessment of the essence of IoT systems in relation to Big Data.

The conference was convened under the theme of ‘Connecting People to Connecting Global’ and brought together researchers, business delegates and talented student communities representing more than 30 countries.
