November 23rd, 2016: Representatives of Etihad Aviation Group have visited Canadian University Dubai (CUD) to introduce the Abu Dhabi airline’s Fikra program, a new initiative that aims to foster entrepreneurship and innovation across the UAE.
The competition gives students the opportunity to use their unique talents to develop solutions to some of the major challenges facing the aviation industry in a competitive global environment. The challenge is operating in ten distinct categories, from industry-related issues such as airport re-imagination and specialist cargo to more general business challenges such as the environment and the digital revolution. There is also an opportunity for students to propose a solution to any unique challenge in the ‘out of the box’ category.
The competition is a two-stage process, during which students will have the opportunity to be mentored by subject matter experts from Etihad Aviation Group. Registration for the competition is open until January 31st and winners will have the opportunity to intern with one of the world’s leading technology and aviation organizations.
Speaking about the initiative, Sara Hamad, Sales Graduate Manager for the Etihad Group said, “The national focus is upon developing our youth to help us build a better future. The Fikra initiative aims to support this strategy by nurturing young talent; encouraging students to challenge themselves, learn new skills, and develop their commercial vision.”
